Its reputation for excellence is well balanced with a commitment to expand the scope of choral music, and to welcome all members of our Pittsburgh community to enjoy and experience choral music. The oldest continually performing music ensemble in Pittsburgh, The Mendelssohn Choir is comprised of every-day community members from diverse backgrounds and professions who give generously of their time and talent to create powerful, unexpected, and deeply moving moments of musical discovery.

About Don't Stop Bri-lievin'!!

Being a member of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh is one of my proudest accomplishments as a singer and as a Yinzer. As a young singer enrolled in Children's Festival Chorus (Now Pittsburgh Youth Chorus), it was always my goal to complete the "TRIAD" and sing with The Junior Mendelssohn and then The Mendelssohn, and that dream came true in the 2014-2015 Season. As a Professional Core Alto, I have been able to bring to our community a wide array of music from classical collaborations with the world-renowned Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to the music of Bob Dylan and Dar Williams. 

As a High School Chorus Teacher by day, I spend my days as an advocate for the power of choral music. The indescribable togetherness of breathing as an ensemble and then exploding into sound is not something to be taken for granted. I believe in this group and the power we have to learn about life through music, which is why I also serve as the Alto Section Leader in the Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh.

We are working hard as an ensemble and an organization to rebuild and gain back the momentum we had before "the big intermission" we endured from singing together in-person during the pandemic, and then the changes brought on with the search for our new music director. We are now on the precipice of a new era, and as we bring in a new music director, it's very important to set a solid foundation for the exciting music making ahead :)
